Pádhraic Mullholland - Fiddle
Alfie Gidley - Acoustic Guitar Joyous guitar and fiddle duo, playing Irish tunes with intensity and lift. Spontaneous and alive, evocative and lively. This was a farewell recording session in a shed in a field which hurriedly took place when Pàdhraic announced that he was moving to Norway at the start of 2018. The wonderful wily hare illustration is also by Pàdhraic. Listen |
Joyful West African dance vibes contrasted with lyrical grief processing. Big drums from Ashley Height and energetic layers of electric guitar.
Beautiful artwork by Polly Meyrick. Listen |
This is an album of solo guitar pieces (and one mandolin piece). It is all instrumental and sits somewhere between Folk, Jazz and Classical. It is a dynamic and intricate conversation between player and instrument, an evocative and colourful array of dexterous fingerstyle arrangements.
The title is a phrase which my subconscious dreamt up and attached a lot of meaning to before I realised that it wasn’t part of the English language! I would like it to mean: Forale noun 1. Architecture: Small room leading to a larger room ie. porch, lobby. 2. In the lead-up to something bigger ie. 'in 1982 she was in the forale of great success'. Listen |
This is a brand new track I've been working on, drawing on my latest obsessions; percussion and absurdism. It addresses the element of humour I find within absurdist philosophy. It is a dark humour; bizarre and nonsensical. And probably not funny.
This will be released as a single and the aim is that it will be followed by a further 10/11 tracks as and when I finish writing and recording them. When they are all fledged I will release the collection as an album entitled 'Mud and Noise'. The album is shaping up to have a hint of West Africa and a danceable full-band sound. It is introspective in style with especial concern for the last two years of my life. The wonderful artwork is by Phoebe Barnicoat. Listen |
